On Tuesday, August 25, the National Hurricane Center upgraded hurricane watches to hurricane warnings. Early Thursday morning, the Category 4 hurricane slammed into the Louisiana coastline with winds of 150 mph. By 5 a.m., the storm had weakened to Category 3 with still powerful 120 mph winds. As it continued to move inland, it weakened into a strong Category 2 hurricane with 110 mph winds. At least 20 million people are in the storm's path.
